Sir James Knott Trust Offers a Major Grant
We are delighted to announce that the Sir James Knott Trust has offered us a generous grant of £30,000 to unlock more of “Northumberland’s Hidden Stories” through the Archives cataloguing project. The offer is subject to the Archives Trust finding match funding, and will be made available as we find matching contributions from elsewhere.
Cataloguing grants enable Northumberland Archives to take a significant step forward. Like all local authority archives, the Archive Service holds much uncatalogued material, which remains inaccessible to the public until catalogued. Our task is to raise funds to enable the Service to employ additional professional staff to do the cataloguing, starting with the county’s exceptional estate collections. Unlocking these and making them accessible by providing a data set, searchable anywhere in the world, is an exciting and important endeavour.
The work to find match funding now begins. Please watch this space for further news.
