The Northumberland Archives Trust is delighted to announce the success of an application for a grant to fund a project working with primary school pupils to explore Ashington’s industrial heritage.

The Platten Family fund, administered through the Community Foundation, has made a grant of £15,602.  The grant will be used to:

1. Work with teachers and 120 pupils from 3 primary schools in Ashington to increase confidence in digital skills and STEM in the classroom by summer 2024

2. Mount and launch a two-week exhibition in Ashington that will be visited by 200 people in April 2024

3. Work with higher education partners to develop increased path awareness for 120 pupils from 3 schools by summer 2024

This project builds on the success of similar work carried out with Blyth schools during 2022.

Once again, the Trust thanks the Community Foundation and associated funders for the continuing support of the work of the Archives Service through the Northumberland Archives Charitable Trust.
