As part of a Lottery funded project, Berwick Record Office was commissioned to undertake a volunteer project at Bamburgh Church, where Grace Darling’s tomb is located.

This involved updating an original survey undertaken by the Friends of Berwick and District Museum and Archives in 1995 (http://www.berwickfriends.org.uk)

The work included rechecking the original list of monumental inscriptions, recording their present condition, and recording additional headstones added since 1995. The survey work is now ended and the Archivist is collating the revised inscriptions and gravestone photographs with completion due by the end of May 2022.
