The Northumberland Archives Trust is delighted to announce the success of an application for a grant to fund work on the Phipps of Barmoor papers held by the Archive Service.

The Barmoor Wind Farm Community Fund, administered through the Community Foundation, has made a grant of £6,670 to fund work on revealing information about the collection and adding this to the online catalogue to allow public access to the content.

The collection contains deeds, plans, accounts and estate papers relating to the Phipps family of Barmoor. Most relate to Samuel Phipps and concern his properties in London, Yorkshire and Northumberland. There are also some manorial documents. The Phipps were predecessors of the Sitwell family. Most of the collection dates from the 18th century.
